Dear Friends and Colleagues,

It is with great pleasure that I invite you to participate in the 11th annual Sydney International Endoscopy Symposium, to be held on Wednesday 21st, Thursday 22nd & Friday 23rd March 2018.

SIES continues to grow in popularity and attendance, therefore the symposium in 2018 will be held at a new site, the recently refurbished Sydney International Convention Centre at Darling Harbour. This promises to be a fabulous venue and we believe will take the meeting to yet another level.

Once again, there will be a day dedicated to the Westmead Endoscopy Nurses’ Workshop, on Wednesday 21st March 2018.

SIES 2017 had a new addition to the traditional two-day program. We held a pre-symposium plenary session on the Wednesday afternoon, entitled “Best Practice Colonoscopy 2017 - meet the experts”. Due to the popularity of this session, with 280 delegates attending, this session will be held again in 2018 on Wednesday 21st March 2018.

SIES 2018 will provide all stakeholders an opportunity to engage with a wide range of leading clinicians and decision makers in the fields of gastroenterology and endoscopy within Australia and the Asia-Pacific. SIES is now firmly entrenched as the second largest gastroenterology and endoscopy meeting in Australia, surpassed only by AGW. This would not have been possible without the strong educational support and commitment of our sponsors.

For SIES 2018 we have again assembled a stellar international faculty which includes Prof Paul Fockens (The Netherlands), Prof Prateek Sharma (USA), Prof Bhandari Pradeep (UK) and A/Prof Steven Heitman (Canada). We fully expect another delegate registration record.

Currently we are actively preparing for yet another impressive showcase of high definition ‘live’ transmissions from the state of the art Endoscopy Suite at Westmead Hospital, which will once again form the backbone of the program. We will demonstrate a range of new techniques and technologies along with the core fundamentals of sound endoscopy with our usual comprehensive approach.

We accept this educational opportunity with great humility and devote all our energies to ensuring the best possible outcome for all involved, our patients, our delegates and our sponsors.

Your support of this symposium is greatly appreciated. We understand that we could not continue the calibre of this symposium without our valued sponsors. All/any residual income from this event each year is donated to the Westmead Medical Research Foundation.

On behalf of our Department, Nurses and Doctors alike, I thank you in anticipation of your support and for allocating time and resources to join us for these three special days.

We look forward to your involvement once more and to meeting again in Sydney in March 2018.

Yours sincerely

Michael Bourke
