Having commenced from humble beginnings at Westmead Hospital in 2008, SIES is now firmly entrenched as the second largest gastroenterology and endoscopy meeting in Australia, surpassed only by AGW. This would not have been possible without the strong educational support and commitment of our sponsors, and continued loyal attendance by our delegates.
The traditional format of SIES starts on a Wednesday with the first half of the day dedicated to the Westmead Endoscopy Nurses’ Workshop, including live demonstrations. Following this in the afternoon we open up the auditorium for nurses and doctors alike to experience a popular session with an expert panel, the Mini Symposium: Controversies in GI Endoscopy.
The next two days showcase educational sessions and high definition ‘live’ transmissions from the state of the art Endoscopy Suite at Westmead Hospital, which form the backbone of the program. We demonstrate a range of new techniques and technologies along with the core fundamentals of sound endoscopy with our usual comprehensive approach. Delegates view the sessions on stage and the live procedures on the big screens in the auditorium. The live procedures are also projected onto screens in the exhibition room.
During the live procedures, delegates can interact with the experts at Westmead Hospital by participating in the live Q&A and live polling via the SIES App on their mobile devices, an impressive tool that enhances the delegates’ overall SIES experience.
On behalf of our Department, Nurses and Doctors alike, I thank everyone for the past support and loyalty and we look forward to inviting you once again to SIES 2023 (16-17 March, 2023 at Hilton Sydney, Australia)
